Only with the help of my best friends could I make such a big mistake. Last Spring Break, my buddies and I took a day trip to the U.P. to get in some skiing before the ski melted. It was the beginning of the day, before I had warmed up to the slopes when everybody, it seemed, started heading to the terrain park. There were ramps, moguls, rails and everything an experienced skier needed to have a good time. One by one, my friends headed down one particular ramp that held a sizeable gap between it and its landing. Thinking that I could handle it, I made the decision to follow the crowd and go through with the jump. After all, they could do it, why couldn’t I?
With two skies forward I headed down the ramp and quickly put an enormous amount of space between me and the snow, but before I knew it I had lost my center of gravity. Then I landed. When I regained my composure, my feet felt as if they were snapped off from my legs, like twigs would be snapped off of a limb. Slowly but surely I was able to get up and because of my own ignorance decided to ski the entirety of the day. Because of this, I limped on both feet for weeks. I did make a complete recovery but I will never forget my experience.
