A Mystic Vision

I believe that there are mystical and visionary experiences that people experience on a daily basis. While I believe in God, and that all things come from God that is also encompassing of invisible things such as thoughts. Similar to the Islamic idea of submission that we have been learning about in class, I believe that when one is in tune with God’s plan for their life, or at least in some sense keeping together a productive train of thought that we are gifted with a vision or an outcome of what lies ahead. This is what helps us put together goals and ideas of how to better ourselves, achieve what we want, and interact to help other people with their “visions.” Also when not in God’s will we sometimes have negative or scary thoughts that can lead to more intense visions of less desirable outcomes? Possibly… These could also be visions but the experience could be also described as doubting the positive outcome that would come from believing in the first of the visions.

Becoming aware of these thoughts and recognizing them is one of the first steps towards determining whether or not these visions are true and valid. Since we are not our thoughts I usually run them by someone else, unless it is quite clear what I must do. I believe some of the visions that humans experience are to help themselves while some are intended to help other people. Having a vision or dream or whatever name that can be on it can be a fun and exciting experience while adding to our intuition of what is happening in the rest of our lives.

I have heard it once said, “All I am is a channel, and God works through me.” Having heard that, any thoughts, including pictures, feelings, and words would be included in the message that is being sent and received. I think it is by listening to other people’s visions that we can get some real insight into ourselves and what the world is all about. Saying that, the vision I hold of myself is always changing. At the moment, I consider myself mainly a student and in life I learn from other people, their visions for their lives and the future, while at the same time giving my input and experience in order to give back. This not only might help them get an idea of what I am going through but also might give them positive ideas for their own life. Such as the vision I had of a music video for one of my friend’s songs.

Of course, most of the visions I am mentioning are not scriptural based or on any level able to compete with the Seven Seals and the Four Horsemen, however I think some people are influenced more by others and not their own visions. Truly I do not want to have visions of a post-apocalyptic world unless it would help to save the future of mankind. This however, is not The Terminator. After watching others’ experiences, I have seen many instances of people having visions in the past that ended up coming to pass. After further investigation I found many of the spots to be of a questionable nature, such as the spot where one lady meditated ended up being a cave with a gas leak. Instances like these can only help us put together a better picture ourselves of the whole truth of the vision, while we cannot argue if the vision comes to fruition. However, being induced by drugs, or as in the cases of some, a natural gas leak does add a different spin to the thought. However this may be, I do not think that drugs are necessary for having a vision, only that they might have some influence over the vision. I think more importantly than the drugs are the other people, who in turn make the visions possible. For in fact if someone had a vision about the future and nobody was there to act it out it would only be a fantasy or a figment of someone’s imagination. It is by telling other people about our visions, our thoughts, and our goals that we can live together, learn about each other and the world and develop not only human relationships with other people but with ourselves. These are the keys, I believe, that help us recognize our visions for what they are, as powerful things that can change lives and help us be able to live them. After all, 24 years ago I was just a vision in someone else’s mind and even to this day I can’t claim being much more. However, I have a mind of my own and my own visions, and to be able to express them and live them and help people ascertain what they have been envisioning is a life time worth of work and is in itself a vision of its own.
